What is an electrolyte and what are its uses?

  • Electrolytes are used to help prevent fluid and electrolyte problems.
  • This product is used to replace fluids and minerals (such as sodium and potassium) lost due to diarrhea and vomiting.
  • It helps prevent or treat the loss of too much body water (dehydration).
  • Getting the right amount of fluids and minerals is important for the body to function normally.

Do not use electrolytes:

  • If you are allergic to electrolytes or any of the other ingredients in this medicine
  • If you have an intestinal obstruction or perforation (tear or hole) in the intestine

Warnings and precautions:

  • You should tell your doctor the following:
  • If you have a fever, vomiting, or diarrhea that lasts for more than 24 hours
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Other medications and electrolytes:

  • Tell each of your healthcare providers about all the medications you use, including over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and herbal products.

How to use electrolyte:

  • Take this product as directed by your doctor, or follow all instructions on the product packaging. If you have any questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
  • Take orally by mouth
  • The amount of solution you should take depends on your weight.
  • Infants, children and adults should generally take 100ml to 150ml per kilogram of body weight (45ml to 70ml per pound) every day.
  • Follow the instructions provided with the product you are using. If you are also vomiting, start with small amounts of the solution and increase the amount as the vomiting subsides.

Possible side effects:

  • Stop using the product and seek immediate medical attention if
  • Signs of an allergic reaction, such as swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, which may cause difficulty breathing or swallowing.

How to store electrolytes:

  • Store this medicine at room temperature.
  • Keep it out of reach of children.
  • If you make a solution from a powder, any solution left over one hour after making it should be discarded.
  • The solution made from the powder can be stored in the refrigerator after mixing for up to 24 hours.
  • When products purchased in solution form are opened, they can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 48 hours.
  • For persistent organic pollutants in the freezer, dispose of any unused solution.
